National Lottery Rural Futures
– Growing Our Community Together
Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Rural Futures programme, Yr Ardd has been able to turn a long-held community ambition into a flourishing reality. This funding has allowed us to focus time, energy and resources on building the foundations of our community garden, strengthening local partnerships, and creating opportunities for people of all ages to grow, learn and belong.
In March 2023, we appointed our first Project Manager, Elizabeth Riches, whose work has been central to establishing the day-to-day running of Yr Ardd and driving forward our long-term vision. Since then, the project has grown rapidly — from transforming the physical site to expanding our volunteer base, delivering free bilingual courses, working closely with local schools, and increasing access to fresh local produce.
Over the first two years, the Rural Futures programme has helped us build momentum, confidence and capacity. It has supported us to create a space that is not only beautiful, but meaningful — a safe, welcoming and inspiring garden where people come together to support each other, develop new skills and strengthen their wellbeing.
